The example is for screw, nail and bolt packaging. The branded section is printed in advance; specifications, batch number, barcode or price are added on demand during packaging.

Data added at packaging

Direct thermal printing is mentioned as a way to add variable information to a pre-printed label. This allows product fields to be updated for different items and batches.

Handling and substrate
