## Purpose and audience

A cover and dust jacket shape how a book's genre and quality are perceived. Publishers choose substrate, format, image, durability and finish to suit the binding and edition.

## Where digital printing helps

Print on demand makes small but commercially viable runs possible while reducing inventory, logistics and fulfilment costs. The guide describes short and medium runs, with or without personalisation.

## Capabilities cited in the guide

The guide cites simplex-offset quality for solid-heavy images, printing of unusual and premium formats (such as coffee-table books), support for a range of high-quality papers, and good de-inkability for recycling.

## Production configuration in the example

The page's table lists Xeikon X-800, Verso substrate, Finch and Lahnpaper stocks, QA-I toner and Xeikon CX500; it also lists a web varnishing module, high-pile stacker and Acpo.
